Lorne Calvert's promise to follow the recommendations made in the Warren report which include reducing tuition costs sounds kinda familiar.

Lorne Calvert's promise to follow the recommendations made in the Warren report which include reducing tuition costs sounds kinda familiar. I believe it was a previous NDP Premier who promised to make the 1st year of University free. I don’t recall that ever happening.

Not that I don’t support affordable and quality education. But with Lorne Calvert's multiple broken promises how can we believe it will be any different this time.

Lorne Calvert to hold the Federal Government Accountable to its Campaign promises. I think the people of Saskatchewan agree.

Lorne Calvert thinks that he should be able to take the Federal Government to court and hold them accountable over their failure to keep campaign promises. I concure. I think we should be able to keep our polititians and governments accountable. So I think we should take Lorne Calvert to court over his broken campaign promises.

During the 2003 provincial election Lorne Calvert promised not to raise the PST. Needless to say after the 2003 election the NDP promptly raised the PST from 6% to 7%.

So I wanted to wish Lorne Calvert good luck in keeping the Federal Government accountable to their campaign promises. The people of Saskatchewan plan to keep you accountable in the next provincial election.

Press Release: Deaninregina is not quiting his job today

For immediate distribution:

Deaninregina is officially announcing he is not going to quit his job today. This announcement has settled much speculation over whether he would continue to grace his employer with his presence. Deaninregina is joined by NDP MLA Pat Atkinson who has also announced that she is not quitting her job today.

UPDATE:

http://www.cjme.com/index.php?p=ntnews&action=view_story&id=8637

This brings the total number of NDP MLAs who have announced this up to 10.

Hon. Pat Atkinson
Hon. Harry Van Mulligen
Hon.Graham Addley
Hon. David Forbes
Mr. Ron Harper
Mr. Andy Iwanchuk
Hon. Frank Quennell
Hon. Maynard Sonntag
Mr. Kim Trew
Mr. Kevin Yates

While 7 have announced that they won't run for reelection

Hon. Eldon Lautermilch
Ms. Doreen Hamilton
Hon. Andrew Thomson
Hon. Eric Cline
Hon. P. Myron Kowalsky
Mr. Peter Prebble
Ms. Joanne Crofford

Its a safe bet that 2 won't be

Hon. Glenn Hagel
Hon. Clay Serby

10 NDP MLA's have yet to announce their intention to run for reelection

Hon. Buckley Belanger
Mr. Lon Borgerson
Ms. Judy Junor
Hon. Warren McCall
Ms. Sandra Morin
Hon. Len Taylor
Hon. Mark Wartman
Hon. Deb Higgins
Hon. Joan Beatty
Hon. John Nilson

There are currently 3 NDP nominated candidates in ridings where the current NDP MLA won't be running for reelection

Saskatoon Massey Place Broten
Prince Albert Carlton Nilson
Saskatoon Greystone Mason

And there are 16 NDP candidates nominated in Saskatchewan Party held ridings.

Marlys Knezacek
Gordon MacMurchy
Roger Emberley
Dale Renneberg
Brenda Curtis
Jordon Hillier
Trevor Davies
Leigh Spencer
Don Hovdebo
Corinne Pauliuk
Ken Winton-Grey
Larry Hall
Grant Whitstone
Ken Crush
Jane Wollenberg
Gord Bedient

That leaves 12 Saskatchewan Party held ridings and 6 NDP held ridings without an NDP candidate. The NDP are at a minimum 18 candidates short. They are going to have to clone a lot of John Tzupas.

Its also important to note that those 9 NDP MLA's were supposed to tell Lorne Calvert whether they indent to run in the next election by May 17th. Considering the NDP had a press conference to announce Pat Atkinson's intentions I surmise that they haven't A. made up their minds or B. told Lorne the bad news.

Nice Leadership Lorne

Another one bites the dust

Veteran NDP MLA Highways Minister Eldon Lautermilch has announced he will not seek reelection. This makes 8 NDP MLAs who won't be running for reelection. 7 confirmed and Glen Hagel whom I'm speculating won't run.

133 409 reasons to not vote NDP

133 409 people have left Saskatchewan since Lorne Calvert has been premier.

I went to

http://www.stats.gov.sk.ca/pop/pop2.pdf

and added up all the quarterly provincial out migration from Jan 1st 2001 to Oct 1st 2006. I must admit I was pretty surprised at this number. I thought it would be a lot but this blows my mind. However, if I think of it I know lots of people who between 2001 and the present had to leave to find work and jobs because there weren't opportunities here.
