Lorne Calvert's promise to follow the recommendations made in the Warren report which include reducing tuition costs sounds kinda familiar. I believe it was a previous NDP Premier who promised to make the 1st year of University free. I don’t recall that ever happening.

Not that I don’t support affordable and quality education. But with Lorne Calvert's multiple broken promises how can we believe it will be any different this time.

Lorne Calvert thinks that he should be able to take the Federal Government to court and hold them accountable over their failure to keep campaign promises. I concure. I think we should be able to keep our polititians and governments accountable. So I think we should take Lorne Calvert to court over his broken campaign promises.

During the 2003 provincial election Lorne Calvert promised not to raise the PST. Needless to say after the 2003 election the NDP promptly raised the PST from 6% to 7%.

So I wanted to wish Lorne Calvert good luck in keeping the Federal Government accountable to their campaign promises. The people of Saskatchewan plan to keep you accountable in the next provincial election.

The Regina Police Service has asked the RCMP to investigate two Regina Police Service files, from 1992 and 1994, which pertain to allegations of fraud in the NDP Caucus office.
All materials from the 1992 and 1994 Regina Police Service investigations have been made available to the RCMP for further investigation, the extent of which will be determined by the RCMP. The RCMP have been asked to review the materials and take whatever action they deem appropriate.

Finance Minister Andrew Thompson, Regina South, announced today that he will not be running for reelection in the next provincial election. This brings the number of NDP MLAs who are not running for reelection to 6. 8 NDP MLAs have announced they are running for reelection. The NDP, Socialists, Dippers and Lorne Calvert just don’t get it. They cry and whine that an increase of 3% a year isn’t a lot. But just how much is $2,300 per capita increase in spending a year for the average working family in Saskatchewan. For the a household with 4 people that’s nine thousand and two hundred dollars a year. Just ‘imagine’ what your household could do with an extra $9,200 dollars a year. That is more than your car payment, that’s your mortgage payment or childcare.... Oh wait, its just 3% a year.

Lets be clear, the NDP believe in high taxes and lots of money for the NDP government. I believe that we should treat the Saskatchewan working family with respect and let them choose how to improve their standard of living with their own income. Like Spiderman said we all have choice. I guess Spiderman hasn’t been to Saskatchewan.

If Murdock Carriere is to the provincial NDP what Adscam was to the Federal Liberals then NDP CAUCUS FRAUD to the provincial NDP is the leaked Income Trust announcement to the Federal Liberals.

The adscam was a long standing scandal with the federal Liberal party similar to the 275 thousand dollar payout to NDP employee Murdock Carriere for wrongful dismissal due to his alleged sexual harassment.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the announcement of the RCMP investigation into the Income Trust announcement occurred during the 2006 federal election. The current NDP Caucus Fraud has been brought into the public eye right before a provincial election.

I believe a provincial election will be called soon since in the leader post today the following appeared;

“One NDP MLA, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Monday that while the poll has raised concerns among some government members about Calvert it is far too close to an election to change leaders.”

We’ll be going to the polls soon and with the current scandals and levels of support for the Sask Party we’ll have a Sask Party government and not a moment too soon. Hopefully the Provincial NDP haven’t blown all of the boom.

Lorne Calvert’s NDP would like you to forget Murdoch Carriere, they’d like you to forget a 700 million dollar deficit during unprecedented economic prosperity. They would like you to forget their fiscal policy of blowing the boom. They would like you to forget a systematic failure to grow the population of our province. To do this Lorne Calvert has tried to focus the attention of people of Saskatchewan on an election promise made by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. This has included:

The advertising campaign called Raise a flag for Saskatchewan.
Storming out of a meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper. This reminds me of my five year old nephew when he doesn't get a cookie.
And, spending even more money on an advertising campaign called Imagine.

However in the media today he described the Federal Government as balkanizing the country.

Well Lorne, last time I checked Canadians weren’t committing ethnic cleansing on each other. We weren’t raping Canadian women some only primary school girl age, we weren’t shelling our own people hoping that CNN would be there to win international support for our side. Canadian soldiers weren’t killing enemy soldiers and being killed or maimed on so called peace keeping missions.

This complete and utter lack of judgement, maturity, misrepresentation of the gravity of the Balkans conflict and the blatant attempt to deflect worthy criticism of his government has outraged me to say the least. Usually I would only be appalled that this person wants to run our province. Unfortunately he’s been running it for way too long.

I'll start us off. A close relative of mine was an associate of a director of HR at one of the crowns. As I was looking for work my close relative asked the director of HR at the crown if they were hiring. When the director of HR found out I was a member of the wrong political party he indicated there was no way I could be hired.

Carriere victim speaks out

Wow I get the paper today and on the front page I see, “Carriere victim speaks out”.

The Leader post has the entire letter that was written to the Premier from a victim with only the names removed.

What shocked and outraged me was that the nine women had been reporting the harassment since 1994. An investigation was only started in the year 2002. That 8 years later after the allegations were first made.

In a meeting with their managers and the Associate Deputy Minister(ADM) of the Department of Environment the ADM replied to their complaints, “That’s just Murdoch.”

I thought that socialism in Saskatchewan was supposed to look out for the little guy. I guess Lorne Calvert's NDP government is more concerned with looking out for their friends than the average middle class Saskatchewan resident.

Parkade boy and loyal readers… yes all 4 of you. I do apologize for the lack of posts. I was on vacation. Suffice to say I have a full time job and numerous evening activities that keep me busy.

I could have posted about the federal budget. Since everyone and their dog has commented on it I thought it would be over kill to do so as well. Not to say I do not have an opinion on it. The general consensus seems to be it wasn’t conservative enough for conservatives but the majority of the population, who are pragmatic, like it. As reported it should pass with the backing of the Bloc. This budget, although increases spending, it reduces taxes, reduces the debt and reduces the rate of spending growth as a percentage of GDP. It is a budget the CPC can run on in an election if there is one. Once they get a majority they would have more freedom to implement a more conservative budget. This budget has sent the message to the Canadian public that the CPC is a centralistic party. For all the Federal NDP rhetoric the CPC has done more for working families than anyone else. It is worthy to note that the increase in spending is in a large part an increase in transfer payments to the provinces. This was one way the Liberals eliminated the deficit. They offloaded it on to the provinces. That and reaping the success of a growing economy provided for them by Mulroney.

Lorne Calvert, Andrew Thompson and the NDP are whining about CPC broken promises. They should, they’re the experts.

I also considered posting about the latest provincial numbers in the federal census. I find this topic black and white. Our population is down. Wow I didn't see that one coming. The obvious reason for this is the extreme left wing policies of successive NDP/CCF governments in Saskatchewan. However, people argue with me that the sky is not blue or the provincial auditor's financial statements are wrong. It grows tiresome.

However, your comment has reminded me that people besides my 4 friends read this blog, also known as a way for me to vent my frustration in a socially acceptable fashion. I will attempt to post soon.

I'm flattered that parkade thinks I work for the Sask Party. I can 'prove' that I do not. The Saskatchewan Party can count on my vote in the next election however, they are not conservative enough for me. Unfortunately like the federal arena the only way a provincial political party can get elected is by being a mainstream centralistic party. None the less it will be a huge improvement over the ultra left wing policies of the NDP.

I’m also waiting in great anticipation for the provincial budget. I’m such a nerd.

NDP Scandal: Mr. Carriere

Mr. Carriere was a 32 year government employee. As a personal friend of Buckley Belanger he was promoted to director of forest fighting regardless of his qualifications. While there his actions lead nine woman to sue the NDP government for sexual harassment.

Right before the 2003 provincial election the NDP violated protocol and fired Carriere to sweep this controversy under the rug.

Currently in 2007, right before another election, the NDP settled out of court with Carriere for $275,000 because he was suing them for damages and lost wages. In contrast each of the women received only $15,000. In typical NDP bumbling form the accused got over 18 times more that the victims.

The Minister for the Public Service Commission, Pat Atkinson, said that the women were consulted before the settlement. They were not.

Also there are court documents saying that a senior manager within SERM asked another employee to erase the hard drive of Carriere. This happened when the RCMP were still investigating. This action clearly demonstrated that the NDP were trying cover up the full extent of Carriere's inappropriate actions.

Atkinson later states that the hard drive is not erased but being held within the Justice department. And if you believe that I’ve got a bridge to sell… well you get the point.

Largest SaskParty win in its history AND lowest NDP result in the NDP/CCF history. SaskParty 77%, NDP 10% and LIb 7.5%.

The previous record was held by Dan D'Autremont who in the 1999 election got 75.2%

Since 1944 the CCF/NDP have never finished less than 14% until now.

This is a historical defeat by the NDP and a historical victory by the Saskatchewan Party, congratulations Nancy.

I pray that whoever is the brains behind the NDP election planning for the Martensville by-election is not managing the 7.7 billion dollar NDP provincial budget. This campaign strategist seems to think that tying Sask Party candidate Nancy Heppner to Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party of Canada would help former Sask Youth Summit coordinator John Tzupa’s by-election chances. I think someone who has ties to a Federal party that got 50% of the popular vote in Saskatchewan during the last Federal election and according to recent polls would get 60% if a vote was held today would think that’s a good thing. Unfortunately I must resign myself to the inevitability that our provinces 7.7 billion dollar budget is being managed as well as the NDP’s Martensville by-election campaign.

The Martensville by-election is set for March 5th. Currently the best case scenario the NDP can hope for is that the Saskatchewan party gets less than 55% of the popular vote. But what really grinds my gears is the blatant lies they spread about their record. Today I’m going to talk about the NDP’s claim that they have had a balanced budget for that last 13 years. Apparently the NDP doesn’t bother to look at the provincial auditors report like I do because Lorne Calvert's NDP government ran a deficit in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Instead Lorne Calvert’s NDP claim that they withdrew money from the fictional stabilization fund. By doing so they claim they did not run a deficit. The problem is the fictional stabilization fund wasn’t worth the paper it was written on. The surplus from the previous years was used to pay down the debt. So by ‘drawing’ from the fictional stabilization fund Lorne Calvert’s NDP were actually increasing debt burden of working families in Saskatchewan. Currently the fictional stabilization fund does have real money in it. However, as Andrew Thompson said in the leader post today they were going to draw from it in the next budget. How on earth does Lorne Calvert’s NDP need to draw from the fictional stabilization account when provincial revenues are almost 800 million higher then what were projected in the 2006/2007 budget. I guess we can all imagine what it would be like if Lorne Calvert got his 800 million in transfer payments from the federal government. This so call fiscal stabilization fund should really be named the NDP election slush fund which currently stands at 800 million dollars.

Here are my thoughts on the Sask Youth Summit

The drinks were too expensive. Why were the hospitality suit drinks $4.50 while the green room drinks and the drinks at the banquet $4.00?

Seriously, what was the main point of the summit. I didn’t understand the thesis statement of the summit. There was no mission statement. The website states

“The 2007 Saskatchewan Youth Summit is created for Saskatchewan's youth to discuss the opportunities, challenges and future in Saskatchewan.”

I believe a lot of people thought the summit was about how the keep Saskatchewan’s youth in the province. On Mon the Leader Post stated, “to determine how the province can retain enough young people to fill the employment gaps left by retiring baby boomers.”

The presentations and breakout session had nothing to do with the varying interpretations of the summit. I was asked how to “make it happen”, what ever that means. I was also asked what I’d like to see in Saskatchewan in the year 2020. No one asked me how to keep Saskatchewan’s youth in the province.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the tax payers for footing the bill for my breakfeast, lunch and supper Sat. My hotel Fri and Sat and the Bands that played Sat night. The Leader Post on Mon said that it cost a mere 800 thousand dollars.

Today I received a leaked internal NDP government memorandum. The NDP government are going to use our tax dollars for shameless self promotion right before a by-election and possible spring general election. I don’t know about you but this reminds me of a certain book about a farm where a bunch of pigs keep telling the animals how good life was now that the pigs were in charge. The animals thought what the pigs said made sense but all they knew was that they were still hungry.

Re: Launch of Saskatchewan! campaign

This afternoon at 2:30 pm, Premier Lorne Calvert and Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel will officially launch the next phase of Saskatchewan! - a multimedia campaign celebrating our people and promoting the many opportunities that our province has to offer. This phase builds upon the initiative launched by Advanced Education and Employment earlier this month, as well as the efforts of other departments including Health, Labour and Environment.

The campaign uses testimonials from Saskatchewan people to deliver timely, consistent and authentic messages. It includes in-province advertising to ensure young people know there are opportunities for great careers and excellent quality of life Saskatchewan. There will also be significant advertising in Alberta and Manitoba. The first glimpse of the television ads will be February 4th, for you Super Bowl fans. MLAs and Deputy Ministers received briefing material about the campaign earlier this week, which will assist them in responding to any inquiries.

On the electronic communications front, we are also launching Saskatchewan.ca, which will be a one-stop site for those seeking additional information about the province or looking for jobs. It's a great site, with lots of interactive tools - I encourage you to visit it to see how Saskatchewan.ca can assist you in future marketing initiatives. As well, we are also launching the revitalized government website. This has been a tremendous piece of work by Chris Shauf and the entire government web team. Both sites will be debuted to the public and media at the campaign launch event.

Thank you to all Communication Directors and your teams for helping us to get this campaign off the ground. This work is based on strong research and input from those directly involved in shaping the concept. Feedback and contributions from Directors following last December's meeting has helped to shape the end product. I'm sure you'll agree it reflects well on our province.

As we have seen from recent media coverage, including the very favourable coverage provided to AEE's initiative, there is strong support from the public and media to hear directly from people about why they choose to make Saskatchewan their home. It bodes well for encouraging people to remain in Saskatchewan, and attracting others to our province. I am looking forward to seeing further elements of this cross-departmental initiative unfold.

That’s why we fought in WW1, WW2, Korea, Bosnia and now Afghanistan.

That’s why we have a democratic process so that the king of England can’t come and push us around.

That’s why we in the west vote conservative. We don’t want someone telling us how to sell our oil, how to raise our children, how to sell our wheat. We are sick of seeing our hard earned dollars go to fat cat bureaucrates to build their personal empires and… tell us how to live our lives.

At the UN conference on climate change European countries are confused why Canadian emissions have increased while some European country emission’s have decreased. But say for example the production of oil and gas produces significant emissions. Canadian production of oil and gas has been increasing to meet the worlds demand. These European countries consume the oil and gas that we are producing. So why are we penalized for producing something that they are consuming but they just don’t produce themselves.

Also, explain to me where the Liberals get their moral high ground to attack the Conservatives. Was it not the liberals who did nothing for 13 years while they were in power to address CO2 emissions in Canada. Was it not the Liberals who were in power while CO2 emissions rose 30% Why is it that as soon as a minority Conservative government comes into power that the main stream media ignores Liberal hyposcracy and is overly critical of the Conservaties. Bias maybe?

The tired old NDP government does not know how to grow the province. Over the past 62 years they’ve tried everything they can think of. Namely direct government investment/intervention in the economy. I use the below hypothetical case to illustrate why private industry has a history of not investing in our province.

The NDP government doesn’t understand why private industry hasn’t invested in the shoe industry. So they create a Shoe manufacturing company. Now private industry won’t touch the shoe market in Saskatchewan. No sane person would compete against a company who has the backing of the provincial government, a company who has the potential capital of 8 billion dollars and a competitor who controls and makes the laws of the land.

We have a history in this province of direct intervention in the economy. We also have a history of a lack of private investment. Its time for a change.

Saskatchew Party creates 3000 jobs in Saskatchewan in the month of October.

The October labour force survey released by Stats Canada reveals that Saskatchewan created 3000 jobs in the month of October and 21,000 or 4.3% since the beginning of the year. As a percentage Saskatchewan was 2nd in Canada to Alberta who created 102,000, or 5.7%, jobs since the beginning of the year.

The can be attributed to Saskatchewan Party Policy being adopted in the Legislature. The 2006/2007 Budget announced a phase out of the corporate capital tax, a reduction in corporate income taxes, an increase in the small business amount and tax credits for tools for tradesmen. Just recently there has been a 2% PST cut and a .5% reduction in the small business income tax rate.

Just ‘imagine’ how Saskatchewan would grow if we only had the Saskatchewan Party running the legislature and not just a handful of their policies being used.

The recent announcement of the 2% PST cut was welcome news to all in Saskatchewan. However, Saskatchewan families should remember that it was this same government that promised in the 2003 provincial election no new taxes, only to raise the PST 1% in 2004. Also, SaskEnergy has joined SaskPower in asking for rate increases. This is another form of taxation. If the NDP didn't take the above two crowns profits for the last two years to finance their glutinous spending maybe we wouldn't have had the rate increases.

Premier Calvert’s imagine campaign is asking the people of Saskatchewan to imagine what life would be like if the provincial NDP government had an additional $800 Million dollars worth of revenue.

Since Lorne Calvert has become leader of the provincial NDP and Premier of Saskatchewan, program spending has increased 40% from 5.7 billion dollars in 2001/2002 to 7.9 billion in 2006/2007.

Saskatchewan has not seen a 40% increase in population. In July 2001 our population was 1,015,800. In July 2006 our population is 985,400 people. That’s a decrease of 30,400 people or 3.0%

Saskatchewan has not seen a 40% increase in the amount of people employed. In July of 2001 there were 487,100 people employed in the province. In July of 2006 there were 504,800 people employed in the province. That’s an increase of 17,700 employed people or 3.6%

Saskatchewan tax payers, working families and businesses have also not seen a 40% decrease in their taxes.

Instead of asking ourselves to imagine how $800 million a year could make life better for Saskatchewan we should ask Premier Calvert if he thinks the $2.3 Billion increase in provincial program spending has improved the lives of the people in Saskatchewan and not just the fortunes of the provincial NDP government.

So I made my first foray into that which is weblogs. I started out reading interesting blogs that I found on bloggingtories.ca and now I've created my own.

This blog is about outragious Provincial government spending. The Provincial NDP have no concept that they are spending/wasting our money. They think that it is their inherent God given right to make life better for all of us by spending our money.

Here is an examination of Provincial NDP spending since Lorne "I'm going to spend all your money" Calvert took over the helm.

Lorne Calvert became leader of the provincial NDP and premier in February of 2001. He won his first, and last, election in 2003.

So it can be argued that Mr. Calvert's 1st budget was in the 2001/2002 fiscal year. Total spending in 2001/2002 was 6.6 Billion dollars. For the 2006/2007 budget total spending is projected to be 8.7 Billion dollars. That's an woping increase of 2.1 Billion dollars in 6 years of office or 32%.

Also worthy of note is the fact that he has ran 3 deficit budgets and 3 surplus budgets.

This is not what I call fiscally responsible nor responsible to working families in Saskatchewan.
